In the lead-up to the last national elections in Ghana, the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) facilitated three presidential debates between the leading candidates. These debates were held in the major centres of Accra, Tamale and Takoradi. The debates were supervised by a nine member committee drawn from representatives of religious bodies, traditional leaders, academics, business and the media.
The work was funded by STAR-Ghana, a multi-donor program managed by Coffey that supported 44 organisations’ projects for ensuring transparent and fair elections in Ghana in 2012.
